Best known for his automotive series, Skid Severson, a self taught photographer
with a maverick perspective, brings something rare to the over photographed and
mythologized subject of American car culture -- his own vision.
Avoiding the cliches of the majority of hot-rodding pictures, Skid deftly sidesteps
the cultural minefields of postmodernist over analysis and self-conscious retrofashion.
Instead, Severson's photographs emphasize his enthusiastic and personal relationship
with the world of gearheads.
An Arizona based photographer and musician, Skid Severson exhibits work in the
Tucson area and gigs regularly in the many of the city's nightspots. His work has been
published in No Depression, Tape Op and regularly contributes to the Tucson Weekly.
He is a former member of the defunct and much-missed musical ensemble, Rodeo Queen.
